Even more wedding photos

Posted on June 29th, 2008 by Tarina

I just received access to the website where all the professional photographer’s digital photos are kept. Let me tell ya, it was a little overwhelming to look through all 785 of them, but I did it!
There were some really great ones! And of course, the obligatory eyes half-closed blinking pictures.
It was really fun to look through all the pics and see what the day looked like. Don’t get me wrong, I was there. I made conscious efforts to remember details and people so I could look back on the day fondly, but as I think back on it, it seems blurry. Most of the stuff at the altar has completely left my brain. Maybe it’s because I was so nervous and happy and had too much adrenaline running through my system.
“I’m really married?” is something I frequently ask myself.
In any case, the photos look great! My only complaint is that some of the guests weren’t really featured. I suppose I should have made that a bit more of a priority to the photographer.
As soon as I talk to the photographer a little more, I’ll just link you guys to the page and you can order ones that you like! Atkins and I are planning on setting up a Flickr page with our favorites once we go through them all.
I’m sure we can narrow it down to about 500 or so. ;)

New Photos Galore

Posted on June 25th, 2008 by Atkins

I just added a bunch of new pictures to my flickr account. You can get to them by clicking on the photos in my column to the right or by going directly to my flickr page. I’m still waiting for our digital photos from our wedding photographer. As soon as I get those I will add them to flickr and send out a new direct link to that set. Some interesting things I added are pictures of the Camelot room which is the bed and breakfast we stayed at after our wedding. and photos of my work, skinnyCorp.

I’m also working on adding better titles and information for the photos in my flickr account but that’s time consuming and I wanted to make the pictures available to everyone first and then make them nice and organized.

My flickr page is updated pretty much every time I take a photo with my iPhone. As long as I have signal, my photos will go directly to flickr and everyone should be able to see them. I hope you enjoying seeing them.

My grammar fix

Posted on June 22nd, 2008 by Tarina

Man, if you know me (and if you’re reading this blog, you probably do), you know that I am a bit of a grammar nazi. Now, I don’t claim to be perfect–everyone makes mistakes, blah blah blah, but I do get a tad (okay, more than a tad) annoyed with flagrant grammatical errors.
That is why I am so happy I found two blogs that share this love for grammar in a comical way: The “Blog” of “Unnecessary” Quotation Marks and Apostrophe Abuse. Both have made me laugh out loud on several occasions. They also make me shake my head at the fact that the simplest things, including quotation marks and apostrophes, can flummox so many people.
Check them out if you have similar grammar tastes. I guarantee you a chuckle. Perhaps even a chortle or a guffaw.

Wedding Page

Posted on June 22nd, 2008 by Tarina

Hey, I just made a wedding page. You can access it on the wee toolbar up there. It’s cleverly titled “Wedding.”
I know, I am just that imaginative. I am sure the format will change. I’m not sure I like how all the pictures are jammed in there right now. I’ll figure something better out.

Stay tuned!

We have a new website

Posted on June 22nd, 2008 by Atkins

Hello everyone and welcome to tanda.im. Tarina and I are both planning on using this site to blog about our lives. I’ve decided to use this site to blog about all my personal life activities that might be of interest to our friends and family. I’ll be keeping my other blog, http://atkinx.com/ as a technical blog.

Frustrated by laundry

Posted on June 22nd, 2008 by Tarina

Okay, I have finally started paying attention to the thread counts on sheets. At first, I couldn’t afford to be picky. Now that I am actually making more money than I am spending (having a job is really nice!) I can buy nicer things. Like sheets with thread counts higher than, oh, five. I’m pretty sure that’s what we were sleeping on before–the ol’ WalMart special that felt kinda like sandpaper. Yeah, that’s the joy of being broke.
Anyway, so we’ve gotten a couple of sets of 500 or 600 thread count sheets. The problem that I have now is that they are constantly wrinkly. I take them out of the dryer right away, but they are just covered in wrinkles.
Does anyone have any tips? Should I dry them on a higher heat? Lower? Dry them with something that is heavier and will beat the wrinkles out of them? Kinda like drying pillows with tennis balls or whatever.
I don’t know why I am posting this seeing as how no one reads this blog, but if someone does happen to have some advice, I would be very appreciative! Thanks, all. (or none, as the case may be)

It’s Official!

Just got the marriage license in the mail today: stamped, signed and sealed–100% official.
Now I just have to decide what to do about that pesky last name business.
Hmmm….

Grillin’, yo!

Posted on June 16th, 2008 by Tarina

So, we have a new grill. We received it as a wedding present, and just put it together last night. It’s pretty cool to have our very own grill. Very grown up, don’tcha know… Here’s the pic:

I have to admit, we did have a grill once before which we never used. We bought it at a garage sale for two dollars. It was red, rusted out and quite dirty. We just never put the energy into cleaning it up. Don’t have a pic of that one, though it would be a nice contrast.

All we need to do now is get some charcoal and fire it up! There are all sorts of weird grill laws in the condo. No gas tanks. No lighter fluid. You’re supposed to get a charcoal grill with an electric starter. This is a charcoal grill with a propane starter, but we’re not going to use the starter. I think we’ll just buy Match-Light charcoal and go from there.

I haven’t barbecued in so long! I’m so excited. :D
Here’s to yummies on the grill!

Showing my gratitude

Posted on June 15th, 2008 by Tarina

So, it’s that time. Time to start the thank-you note process. This weekend is the first real time off I’ve had, so I’m going to take a half-day or so and get them all made and written.
That’s right, much like the invitations, I’m making all the thank-yous myself. Nothing elaborate, just something cute that I think everyone will like. Plus, I need to use up the left-over paper I have, and there’s no better way!
Funny enough, I’m actually looking forward to writing the thank-you notes. I had such a wonderful time at the wedding, and it wouldn’t have been the same without all my friends and family in attendance.
Hopefully I’ll get them all done and in the mail by Tuesday.
I love these little mini-projects. :)

Gettin’ back to what I love

Posted on June 14th, 2008 by Tarina

Not that I don’t love veterinary medicine.
I have been craving making art again. Besides a little bit of drawing, I really haven’t done any art in quite some time. I mean, sure, I designed and created the wedding invites and such, but I have been really wanting to paint or make pottery–something that I didn’t think I had the time or space to do…until now.
I registered for a beginning handbuilding/wheelthrowing class. I figured I’d start back at the basics since I’ve been out of the studio for about 6 or 7 years. I signed up for the Thursday night (7-10pm) class, since I usually have Thursdays off. Then Saturdays are open studio from 10-6, so even if I work, I should be able to get some studio time in during the afternoon. I am very excited! I can’t wait to play around with clay and make new stuff to cram into the apartment. haha
The thought of getting back in the studio is a little daunting, but I think I’ll love it.
The studio is located about halfway between my work and our apartment, so it should be pretty easy to get there.
Yay! I’m so frickin’ excited. I think it will really help balance out my brain and bring me a little peace and joy that I’ve been craving.
